I will dominate 'serious combatant' Paul - Joshua
Anthony Joshua prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight round match which will be shown in real-time on Netflix.
British boxer Joshua stated he will "stamp all over" the American and "overpower" his opponent as the two fighters met personally to build hype for next month's bout.
Ex two-time world title holder Anthony Joshua meets social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a huge disparity - at Miami arena on 19 December.
Boxer's Mentality
"I will injure his face and break his body up. I'm here to prove I'm superior," the British boxer, 35 years old, stated.
"I will dominate him completely. That's how fighters think.
"I intend to really want to hurt him. That's my intention."
Respectful Exchange
Despite such comments, a calm Joshua and internet personality Paul - usually recognized for his showmanship - were respectful and kept it respectful with each other.
Paul instead criticized ex Joshua opponent the Cameroonian fighter and called him "a joke" after the Cameroonian declined a bout proposal.
Targeting Fury
Joshua, in the meantime, criticized British opponent Fury - and refused a million-pound wager 'The Gypsy King' says he will place on a Paul victory.
"Jake Paul outshines Tyson Fury - he's actually sitting here," the boxer stated.
"I respect him for that."
Legitimate Fighter
Despite stating he plans to punish Paul, Anthony Joshua declined to comment unfavorably about his rival's pugilistic talent.
"Jake Paul is a serious fighter," he remarked.
Paul's History
Paul - who initially became famous on the Disney Channel - has mainly fought mixed martial artists or past-their-prime fighters since becoming pro.
He lost to British fighter Fury in last year.
Financial Success
Still, the inexperienced fighter continues to be one of boxing's largest commercial attractions, regularly earning huge earnings.
Forecast and Confidence
The 28-year-old predicted a knockout win in round four or five and stated he would prevent the long-awaited Joshua–Fury fight, which is reportedly being planned for 2026.
"It will be myself against Tyson Fury next year," Paul said.
Physical Disparity
As both boxers engaged in the usual confrontation, with their physical disparity clearly visible, it highlighted just how improbable this entire matchup is - and how remarkable it is that the bout is really happening.
